Palermo is an Italian football team with a long history dating back to 1900, when a group of English fans who had moved to Sicily founded the Anglo-Palermitan Athletic and Foot-Ball Club. The team changed its name to Palermo Foot-Ball Club in 1907 and began playing in Serie C in 1929. After two bankruptcies, the team rose from the ashes in 1987 and began to climb the ranks, reaching Serie A in 2002 thanks to the purchase by Maurizio Zamparini. The team played in Serie A for nine years, qualifying for the UEFA for three consecutive seasons and competing in a Coppa Italia against Inter in 2010/11. Palermo also won the Coppa Ali della Vittoria in the 2012/13 season, returning to Serie A after just one year in B. However, the team went through a difficult period in 2016/17, being relegated to B, and subsequently faced administrative problems that led to its exclusion from the play-offs in 2018/19. The company was declared bankrupt in October 2019, but the mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando assigned the team's sports title to Hera Hora S.r.l., allowing the rosanero to restart from Serie D. The team reached the top of the standings before the interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic and secured promotion to Serie C. On July 16, 2020, the team took on the name Palermo Football Club and began its new adventure with Filippo Inzaghi at the helm. Going forward, Palermo is now in Serie B, with the goal of returning to Serie A. The rosanero team has a long history and a great passion, and with Filippo Inzaghi at the helm, it is ready to challenge the best teams in the championship. Palermo also has a strong rivalry with other Sicilian teams, such as Catania and Trapani, and is often involved in exciting derbies. The team also has a great tradition, with its social colors pink and black, and its nicknames, Rosanero and Aquile. But the team's history is not just about its achievements, it's also about its people, like Ignazio Majo Pagano, who founded the team, and Maurizio Zamparini, who brought it back to Serie A. So, the Palermo team is not just a team, it's a family, with a strong bond between its players, coaches, and fans.
