Palermo inaugurated yesterday the Palermo City Football Academy sports center, the first sports center owned by the club in over 120 years of history. The symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by City Football Group and Palermo FC board member Alberto Galassi, City Football Group Global Football managing director and Palermo FC board member Brian Marwood, Palermo FC president Dario Mirri, and Palermo FC CEO Giovanni Gardini. The Palermo City Football Academy consists of two natural grass fields of the same size as the Renzo Barbera stadium, a smaller natural grass field for goalkeeper training, a Main Building, and a Club House. The structure was designed by Studio Mazzarella Architetti according to the CFG guidelines for sports infrastructure. The project management activity was carried out by T&T Italia. The general contractor was ATI EPS snc and By Multiservizi. The Palermo CFA has preserved the local flora by safeguarding, planting, and relocating over 400 trees and new plants typical of the Mediterranean scrub for a total of 30,000 square meters of green areas. Additionally, a social garden was created near the new Club House kitchen, which will host educational and social activities in collaboration with local charities. The club invited over 20 Rosanero Legends to the Renzo Barbera, who followed and celebrated the inauguration live from the maxi screens set up on the field, along with thousands of Palermo fans. The new structure represents an important step forward for Palermo, which will now have a state-of-the-art facility for the training of young footballers. The Palermo City Football Academy is the result of a long and challenging design and construction process, which involved many parties and professionals. Palermo FC president Dario Mirri emphasized the importance of this new structure for the club and the city of Palermo. City Football Group Global Football managing director and Palermo FC board member Brian Marwood highlighted the quality of the structure and its importance for the training of young footballers. The Palermo City Football Academy is a structure that fits into the territory with respect and sensitivity, safeguarding the local flora and creating a space for educational and social activities.
