Palermo has inaugurated the Magione football field, renovated thanks to the 'Palermo in the community' project. The space will be co-managed with schools, associations and parishes in the neighborhood. The project has involved the entire sports facility, with the renovation of the playing surface and fencing using high-quality materials, as well as the installation of a new lighting system. The field will be free and accessible to all, without any form of exclusive use. Management will be entrusted to the Kalsa-Magione Educating Community, the Kalsa Magione Network and the Pietro Piazza Institute, together with associations and realities in the territory that have been involved in the neighborhood for years. Among the project's objectives are the promotion of active citizenship, the care of common goods, the organization of sports activities and tournaments, the creation of educational and integration paths through sport, and the strengthening of the link between school, families and territory. A key role will be assigned to the twenty 'Local Heroes', young people between 18 and 30 years old selected and trained by Palermo within the international Healthy goals/City in the community program. They will coordinate activities and initiatives aimed at the youngest, contributing to transforming the field into a permanent stronghold of legality, inclusion and participation.
