Palermo is speeding up player exits: before the transfer window closes the management must find new clubs for eleven players no longer in Filippo Inzaghi's plans.
Who are the surplus players?
Alessandro Arena of Giornale di Sicilia reports that, besides Joronen, Gomes and Bereszynski who have already left on expired contracts, the list expands with Vasic, Corona, Gomes, Desplanches, Buttaro, Diakité, Nikolaou, Lund, midfielder Gomes, Blin, Brunori, Appuah, Gyasi and Le Douaron. Some, like Vasic, have a contact with Vicenza, but nothing is finalized yet.
Why is it urgent?
Inzaghi's squad now numbers about 33 players, far above the recommended size for Serie B. Keeping such a payroll risks creating surplus players outside the project even after the window closes. Trimming the wage bill will free up funds and let the club focus on those who can help achieve promotion.
What concrete options exist?
A few players may travel with the team to the Santa Cristina Val Gardena training camp for numerical reasons: Vasic, Corona and probably Gomes. Others, like Desplanches, are slated for a new loan, with a possible permanent sale if an offer close to the two‑million‑euro fee paid three years ago appears. In defence, Buttaro, Diakité, Nikolaou and Lund remain without a destination; interest from Asteras Tripolis for the Greek has cooled.
What will happen at the training camp?
The plan is to hand Inzaghi a squad of 22‑23 players already during the camp. Some surplus players, such as Vasic and Corona, will follow the group to meet the minimum squad size but must convince the coach to stay. Others, like Blin, are unlikely to join the camp and await concrete offers. Brunori and Appuah also should not be called up: Modena and Sampdoria have shown interest in the captain, while the Frenchman is eyeing a new loan or a move to Rio Ave.
What are the market prospects?
No advanced negotiations are reported yet, but the club is watching every possible exit to reduce the wage bill. Even a few sales or loans would allow Palermo to invest in targeted reinforcements for the second half of the season. The goal remains clear: a lean, competitive roster ready to fight for a return to Serie A.
